7 Ways to Make Getting Up Easier

Wouldn’t it be great to leap out of bed each morning, full of energy and ready to start your day? Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? Many of us don’t start our days like this but there are some things you can try to make getting up easier.

1. Stick to a regular sleep schedule—go to bed and wake up around the same time every day! If you sleep in, it’s both harder to go to sleep that night and harder to get up the next morning.

2. Make sure you are getting enough sleep—if you’re sleep deprived, it’s not going to be easy to get up. Aim for 7 or more hours, although some people need closer to 8 to be at 100%.

3. Put your alarm across the room—this forces you to get out of bed to go turn it off.

4. Cultivate your enthusiasm for tomorrow—before you go to bed, think of the one thing that you’re going to do the next morning that excites you (that’s an easy one: your #fitflyx workout!). When you wake up in the morning, remember that exciting thing and you will be more motivated to get up.

5. Do you have something that you’ve wanted to do for a while but can’t find time for? Get up a little earlier and do it in the morning! Prioritize what’s important to you! This will help build your enthusiasm for the day and make it easier to crawl out from under the covers to start your day.

6. As soon as your alarm goes off, drink some water and try doing some light stretching. Leave a glass of water on your bedside table to make this one easy. Then raise your arms above your head and stretch your legs out while still lying in bed.

7. Plan your sleep in cycles—most sleep cycles are around 90 minutes long so aim to be sleeping for a multiple of 90 minutes. If you wake up mid-cycle in the morning you could feel groggy for the rest of the day.
